INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS IN PARIS

INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS IN PARIS

Here in Paris, in the collective unconscious, sobriety is synonymous with good taste... We, the Parisians, are convinced that by opting for white or one of its declinations, we do not risk making a mistake (of coming across as "tacky" or tired). While this is true, we also risk missing out on many possibilities....

Some fifty years ago, painting one's interior white in Paris would surely have been judged very impersonal, of the "unfinished" kind. Just imagine being in the 1960s, the era of the wallpaper and luxury fabrics boom, and going to your interior designer and saying, "I want immaculate interiors, all painted white...": it would have meant the end of a professional and the artisans to whom he offered the opportunity to work! Oof, nowadays things seem to have changed in Paris, and interior designers are unleashing their imaginations to offer us more and more original shades of color.

Super-cozy interiors

In interior decoration, comfort and well-being are also trending. In designer furniture, comfortable shapes and "ultra-comfortable" fabrics are adopted. This fashion of "cuddly" also influences the choice of fabrics, which are rather soft and warm such as velvets, faux fur (in small pieces) or wool, knitted tricot processing.

Open, but well-identified spaces

Bedroom and bathroom, or dining room and kitchen, are open spaces, separated only by a frontier of creativity: a level change, a sliding glass door-wall (very trendy), a half-height wall, flooring of various types, walls painted in different colors...

Natural materials

Wood is one of the leading materials, both in furniture and flooring. Natural fibers such as wicker, bamboo, raffia... come forward in Parisian interior decoration.

Fabrics with graphic patterns

The 1950s and 1970s are back with graphic effects, which are easily adapted to all types of interior decoration. To be used with restraint and elegance, in discreet shades: less is more is always the watchword here in Paris.

Good led lighting

Indirect lighting has undergone a real revolution with the arrival of led strips. These light strips are often used under furniture, ceiling beams or along walls to bring a breath of fresh air to interior decoration. Thanks to the softness of light provided by LEDs, spaces become protagonists, and volumes and architectural potential are highlighted.

The new colors

At this time, triumphing is plum (lilac, amethyst, purple) and then, of course, pink in total look or in brushstrokes, as we like to do in Paris in order not to be too much... But also browns, including terracotta, star of the "earthy" shades. And then turmeric (a yellow-orange), which goes from our healthy table to the salon walls. We in the industry, call it Turmaric (the American translation of turmeric).

Dark shades

Even if we got a little bored with it, there is nothing to be done about it, charcoal gray always goes, especially for cushions, sofas and armchairs. What is new is the arrival of dark colors, such as pine green, beautiful, or burgundy, wonderful. Two colors, these, that often go with natural shades such as ochre, Turmaric, camel beige.

Blue in all its declinations

Elegant and fresh, blue - in Paris - is used in all its deepest shades. From ultramarine, to indigo, to navy-blue, and in all shades of the ocean depths, blue is an indispensable color in interior decoration, a hue that adapts easily to every style and fabric. On the other hand, it is universally recognized as a generator of relaxation--so, it is very trendy!

Marion & Nicole - Design
My name is Marion. I fell in love with interior design when I was 18, rummaging through the Flea Market for unusual objects to decorate my apartment. I turned this into my profession, becoming a personal shopper for often foreign, clients looking for the best of what the capital has to offer. As for me, it’s different. I went to a school of design and then opened my own boutique in Paris. A photo-shoot for a decoration magazine led to our intense meeting. Whether the 50’s or Empire, art of the table or floral arts, our tastes and skills are complementary. The result is always incredibly super-Parisian!
